HE HAD A VISION

Charles Claude DuTisne (Du Tane), a French army officer was commissioned to find a passage way to the southwest that would enable trade with the Spanish in the territory that today is New Mexico.  DuTisne didn’t accomplish that objective in 1719, but he found much more.  Traveling across northeastern Oklahoma near Chelsea and Salina further south, upon his return he reported the boundless potential of the regions.  His exploration, and that of others you will find on the Regional Explores Link above.
